Ruby is still rolling. I haven't done any significant work on her for a long time so things have been quiet on my blog. I've made a couple of good trips though, mainly out west to the wonderful and ancient Wales.
New tyres will be needed soon; I've got a pair of Meltzer Z6 ready to go on. It's greeting harder to find options for the rear wheel in what is now an unusual size.

Happy to hear about Ruby !!!!
Hi,
I have just bought a 1200 Trophy #319. Am having problems when it gets up to operating temp as it misfires up to 2500 revs then pulls like a train. Would you be able to offer any advice?

Hi David, I think you are saying your bike starts and runs ok from cold but then runs badly at low revs when warmed up. I think you need new ignition coils. old coils tend to break down when they get hot, the effect especially noticeable when voltage is low. Your alternator should make good voltage when the engine starts to spin up. This problem will get worse as time goes on. The other candidate is the ignition pick up coils on the right-hand end of the crank. However, my experience has been that these cut out entirely when hot, not misfire as you describe.
Trevor offers genuine PVL or pattern coils:

Good luck with your bike. I'm about to head off on a big trip with Ruby tomorrow. Scotland, here we come!
Thanks for the advice, I will check the coils. Good luck with your trip.
Your advice was spot on. It runs like it should now. Thanks
